Sessions 4 & 5: July 13-25
Continue your counselor-in-training leadership path and gain even more skills, working closely with camp staff and mentor campers. During this session you will develop your own goals for growth. Do you want to work with a specific age level? Mentor a specific activity area? The session will be designed for you around your unique interests. During the second week you will spend a lot of time with the younger campers, sharing your knowledge and gaining valuable experience working with campers.
Weekend stay-overs are a great opportunity for you to extend your summer camp session in July. Imagine staying at camp for 9, 12, 16 or even 26 nights! How fun would that be? When you stay-over on the weekend you will be able to participate in activities that normally don’t happen during regular summer camp like having a slumber party in the Gemini building, movie night, mini golf, sleeping in and just having fun with your friends. You will also have a chance to do laundry over the weekend and call home.
Troop Camp is an excellent way for you to take your entire troop camping and have a lot of fun in a safe environment. You and your troop will experience the great outdoors with all of the amenities of camp counselors leading activities, food service providing meals and so much more. Another bonus for troop leaders attending Troop Camp is that by participating in activities during the two-night Troop Camp you can attain Outdoor Adventure Training requirements. Outdoor Adventure training is required when taking a troop on a troop getaway where sleeping in the out-of-doors or cooking over a fire is taking place. But don’t worry, it won’t feel like training at all. There will be tons of fun to go around at Camp Evelyn Troop Camp. All you need to bring is your troop, your gear, and your enthusiasm for trying something new at Camp Evelyn.
Camp Evelyn Days are a great opportunity for girls who want to experience camp but aren’t quite ready to sleep over. This first step towards staying over at summer camp allows girls to participate in camp activities such as swimming, hiking, art projects, singing camp songs, playing games, boating, nature activities and checking out the camp units. Lunch and snacks are provided. Girls should bring a swim suit and towel so they can swim in the pool. This is a girl only event, there will be plenty of adult supervision by camp staff.
Contact the director of camp and program if you need special accommodations for Camp Evelyn Days.
Water Adventures! Not only will we be introducing girls to the wonderful new lake at Camp Manitou but we will have fabulous water-themed presenters and special guests at Camp Manitou on these fun-filled days. Girls will have an opportunity to swim in the lake and explore the trails and other fun things that Camp Manitou has to offer.
