Although many are studying or working in fields such as education, psychology, sociology, recreation, social work, and more, they are chosen primarily for their keen interest and ability to work with children in a camp setting.
To prepare for the summer, staff go through background checks, an interview process, and take part in an intensive 12-day pre-camp training period that covers various topics that include, but are not limited to, emergency procedures, CPR/First Aid/AED/Lifeguarding, waterfront safety, homesickness, and more.

Hi everyone! I'm Daisy and I'm the Director of Program Quality at Girl Scouts of Manitou Council - including Camp Evelyn and Camp Manitou. This marks my 12th year at camp and I honestly can't imagine spending my summers anywhere else! Camp is a huge part of my life and I'm passionate about making sure every camper has an amazing experience. Outside of camp, you'll usually find me hiking in the woods, curled up with a good book, or enjoying some quality time with my two dogs. Before diving into the camp world, I spent three years teaching in northern rural Wisconsin, which I loved. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Special Education and a Master's in Special Education with a focus on emotional behavioral disorders. I'm really looking forward to another fantastic summer with all of you!
Hi! My name is Bambi! This will be my first year at camp, and I'm super excited to be part of the team. I'm currently in school and really enjoy learning new things and meeting new people. This will be my seventh year at camp! I'm graduating from UW-Stevens Point in the spring with a degree in dietetics and a health and wellness coaching certificate. Hi! My name is Oreo. This is my third year working at camp and I've been going to Camp Evelyn for 12 years. This summer, I'll be a day camp counselor, with the occassional overnight. In the fll, I'll be starting school to study pre-medicine. In my free time, I love spending time with family and friends, doing crafts, and enjoying the outdoors. Hi! My name is Storm. This is my second year at camp. While I was the LaForet head counselor last year, I will be working as a Media Specialist this summer. My name is Turtle! This is my second year at Camp Evelyn. I've been going to Girl Scout camps since I was nine yeaRs old in various places around the Midwest. I have a Bachelor's Degree in theatre, and when I'm not at camp, I work at a performing arts school in Missouri. I love all outdoor activities and also write poetry in my free time.
