Girl Scouts of Manitou Council - Job Description


Reports to

  • Community Cookie Sale Manager


  • To assure that girls in the troop carry out the cookie sale in an enthusiastic, safe, timely, and accurate manner

Term of Appointment

  • Recruited and appointed by the troop advisor for the term of one cookie sale period. Reappointment can be made with the agreement of both parties dependent upon ongoing background check results


  • Complete troop cookie sale manager training.
  • Be accountable for all troop monies collected from cookie sale.
  • Follow procedures as outlined in the Troop Cookie Managers Procedures.
  • Attend a troop meeting prior to the sale to help the girls set a troop goal and to provide safety, sales, program, and ordering information. Meet with the troop again after the sale to assist them in completing the cookie sale evaluation.
  • Collect and retain copies of original signed Cookie Sale Parent Permission forms until after all money is collected from the girls.
  • Record all sales in the e-budde cookie sale online ordering system by the deadline date.
  • Ensure for the distribution of awards and program credits to the girls in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Deposit all monies owed for girl sales into the Council bank account by the deadline date.
  • Assist the council in clearing outstanding, overdue balances from the troop or individual girls.


  • Be or become a member of the Girl Scouts of the USA and subscribe to the mission of Girl Scouting
  • New volunteers provide the names of two references and agree to a background check
  • Must have e-mail address


  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to inspire girls to complete the cookie sale according to their goals and council safety and sales procedures
  • Ability to responsibly and accurately account for monies earned, due to the troop, and to Girls Scouts of Manitou Council by the established deadline dates
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

VIP Cookie Sale Training
Thank you for volunteering to manage your troop’s cookie sale! If this is your first year as a troop cookie sale manager, you will probably be surprised at how the cookies seem to sell themselves, and how much the girls in your troop will enjoy the experience. As the troop cookie sale manager, you will be responsible for managing all of the facets of the Girl Scout Cookie Sale program for your troop. To get started, all NEW troop cookie sale managers are required to complete the  VIP Cookie Sale TrainingOnce this training has been completed you will be invited to attend a meeting to receive your troop cookie sale materials from your Community Cookie Sale Manager.

  • Log on to
  • Complete the information requested: name, e-mail address, state, council, service unit, troop, and zip code
  • Be sure to select WISCONSIN and MANITOU
  • Select a SERVICE UNIT (City or School)
  • A link to create a new password will be sent to your e-mail
  • Click on the link and choose a new password. Check that all the information is correct, then click SUBMIT. You will be directed to a page where you can edit your personal information or change your password. Click on #3 Return to the home page to continue taking lessons.
  • Click on #5 COUNCIL to take Manitou Council VIP Training
  • Read the Troop Cookie Sale Manager Instruction Sheet
  • Complete all quizzes
  • Print certificate after completing all quizzes. Give the certificate to your community cookie sale manager when picking up troop materials so she knows you have completed the training.
