4.2.3. First Aid & CPR

First Aid & CPR

Where to find a class:
Many community organizations such as hospitals, clinics, fire departments and technical colleges offer first aid and CPR courses to the general public. Sometimes organizations will even set up a class just for you if there is a small group of students wishing to take the class. American Heart Association offers an online/blended course which may be a great option if you cannot find a class near you. Click here for more information about American Heart Association’s online Fist Aid/CPR/AED courses.

American Heart Association Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Online/Blend Ed
The AHA’s Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Online Part 1 Course is a blended learning course that contains information on how to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. This course provides a one-stop shop for pediatric first aid, CPR and AED training needs for child care providers.

Once you begin the course, you’ll have access to the online lessons, videos, manuals and resources for two years! And you can start and stop the course at your convenience until you have finished it at your own pace.

Successful completion of the full Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course includes three parts:

  • Part 1, Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED online course at http://www.onlineaha.org/courses
  • Part 2, a hands-on skills practice session with an authorized AHA Instructor within 60 days
  • Part 3, a hands-on skills test with an authorized AHA Instructor within 60 days

After you successfully complete all three parts, you will receive an AHA Pediatric Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course completion card, valid for two years. Skills sessions (Parts 2-3) are sold separately and must be completed within 60 days of completing the online Part 1.

The following sites offer skills practice sessions and hands-on skills test. Please contact the organization directly to schedule an appointment.
