Thinking of starting a troop? As a volunteer who provides direct service to girls, you are required to complete either the Leadership Essentials course or the Girl Scouting 101 & Council 101 online learning courses. Once you have completed the adult learning opportunity of your choice, you will be ready to provide fun, safe, and engaging activities for the girls in your troop.
The Girl Scouting 101 and Council 101 online learning courses consists of two parts. Part I includes completing the online orientation called Girl Scouting 101. It covers information on the history of the Girl Scout movement, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, program resources, cookies, safety tips, and more. Click here to Begin! Password is “aboutGS101.” When prompted for your council, select “Manitou" to ensure we receive confirmation of your successful completion of Girl Scouting 101.
The next step is to complete Part II called Council 101. This portion of the course will cover the basics on holding your first troop meeting, volunteer responsibilities, how to engage girls, trip planning, keeping girls safe, troop money management, and more. Click here to begin Council 101. Once the learning log is submitted your information will be sent to the Girl Scout Center for review.
