This training is required for at least one advisor of a troop before bringing girls on an overnight in tents or before cooking over a fire. Troop advisors can also recruit another adult/parent to become the troop’s Outdoor Adventures Certified Adult. Participants will learn how to implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in preparing for these types of outdoor adventures.
In this session you will learn about progression in outdoor activities as well as outdoor skills, such as building fires and outdoor cooking. The session will also focus on reviewing Safety-Activity Checkpoints for various outdoor activities and talking about other ways of staying safe. By the end of the session you will be able to determine the readiness of your troop and have an excellent start to the planning and preparation of your very first outdoor adventure with your troop.
Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. Much of the time will be spent outdoors, rain or shine. Lunch is provided. Please contact the Director of Camp and Program as soon as possible if you have any dietary restrictions or have any questions.
