Our camp counselors and staff are committed to creating a supportive and nurturing environment for the girls who attend Camp Evelyn or Camp Manitou. Although many are studying or working in fields such as education, psychology, sociology, recreation, social work, and more, they are chosen primarily for their keen interest and ability to work with children in a camp setting.
To prepare for the summer, staff go through background checks, an interview process, and take part in an intensive 12-day pre-camp training period that covers various topics that include, but are not limited to, emergency procedures, CPR/First Aid/AED/Lifeguarding, waterfront safety, homesickness, and more.
Below are a few camp staff that cannot wait to see you this summer!
Daisy is extremely excited for her fourth summer as the Director of
Camp and Program! Daisy also worked at camp for many years prior to
taking the position of Director of Camp and Program. She can't get
enough of camp! Before she became the Director of Camp and Program,
Daisy taught special education students. She has a dual degree in
elementary and special education, and over the years has developed a
lot of strategies for working with kids in the school and camp
setting. In her free time, Daisy loves to paint, read, roller blade,
and camp. She can't wait to see what this summer will bring and looks
forward to working with staff to create a fantastic summer for the
campers.
J.A.R.V.I.S. will be returning to camp for a second summer. This
summer she will be taking on the position of Waterfront Coordinator.
She has years of experience working at her local aquatic center and
also served as a lifeguard last summer at camp. Some of her favorite
activities include drawing, listening to music, and taking long naps
with her dog, Odin. She is excited to spend time outside in the sun
making happy memories.
Sunny will be returning to camp as a second year Unit Coordinator.
She is originally from San Diego, California but moved to Boise,
Idaho, for college. She is currently in her senior year at Boise State
University where she studies psychology and criminal justice. She
hopes to work in a forensic psychology position. Sunny currently works
as a Registered Behavior Technician for children diagnosed with an
autism spectrum disorder in Boise, Idaho. She loves her current job!
Sunny is also a huge musical theater fan and grew up in musical
theater her entire life. She cannot wait to spend summer 2023 at Camp
Evelyn!
Willow will be returning to camp for her second summer. This
summer, Willow will be a unit coordinator. Willow currently attends
UW-Green Bay. In her free time, she loves to read, draw, and spend
time with her dogs. Other favorite activities include swimming on
going for trail rides on her four-wheeler.
