Troop Takeovers
We have an exciting opportunity for Girl Scouts ages 13 and older! Troop Takeovers are here! Who is ready to take over Girl Scouts of Manitou Council's Instagram? We can't wait to see your troop in ACTION.
Is your troop doing something unique? Going on an amazing travel adventure? Having an epic ceremony? All these things are the perfect opportunity to give our followers an inside look at what Girl Scouting is all about. You'll get to post to our stories and feed with your awesome Girl Scout activities and adventures.
This opportunity is available to troops or individual Girl Scouts ages 13 and over. This is intended to be girl-led and an exciting opportunity for our older girls, not their leaders.
Those troops who are interested in taking over our Instagram account must submit the interest form and agree to our social media community guidelines. The Director of Communications, Cassie Brown, will review interest forms and reach out to the contact listed on the form. You will be given the log in instructions and your one-time password, as well as a document containing more information, tips & tricks, and FAQ.

Media Stars
You are a star! Share it with the world! Share your Girl Scout story (and earn a free patch!)
Do you or your Girl Scout troop love storytelling? Are you interested in sharing your Girl Scout pride and telling your story? Girl Scouts of Manitou Council's Media Stars program is for you! We want to help Girl Scouts of all ages gain practical media skills and share their story.
This opportunity is available to troops or individual Girl Scouts of ALL LEVELS. If you have any questions or want to get started, contact Director of Communications, Cassie Brown.
Media Stars "stories" can be things like:
- Photo series
- Instagram reel or TikTok style video
- Video or video blog
- Written article or listicle (think Buzzfeed lists!)
- Artwork
- Fictional short story
- Cartoon / comic
- Quiz or other activity
- Song, script, or skit
- Vision or inspiration boards
Media Stars topics can be things like:
- Earning a Highest Award
- Completing a Take Action project
- Taking a trip
- Hosting an event or fundraiser
- Community service or volunteer projects
- What your troop plans to do with cookie sale proceeds
- Organization to whom your troop is donating cookies
- Unique Girl Scout experience
- Why Girl Scouts
- What Girl Scouts means to you
- What it means to be a Girl Scout
The sky is the limit! Time to get creative. Our awesome Media Stars will earn the exclusive media stars patch for free, and their story will be featured on our website, social media, in our digital magazine & newsletters, and more!
