Troop 8390 took a very educational field trip to the Sheriff's Department and Courthouse.
They started the evening with Sheriff Cory Roeseler. He first explained to the girls how he became Sheriff. He also highlighted the important things the Sheriff's department does for our community. The Daisies donated 5 boxes of cookies to the Sheriff's department, they were a big hit!
Next, the troop took a tour of Judge Bastil's courtroom. She explained to the girls that currently, of the 5 county circuit court judges, 3 of them are women. What a great example of female leadership.
Judge Bastil also discussed the 3 branches of local government and their roles.
Each of the girls was then able to try on the judge's robe and hit the gavel. These Daisies took turns being the witness, attorney, bailiff, and defendant. Thank you, Judge Bastil, for coordinating this visit.
What a great learning experience! We can't wait to see what these girls learn and explore next.
