Tuesday, July 16th, Girl Scout Troop Leader Angella Sargent was awarded with the Hometown Hero award at a local Sheboygan A's baseball game.
The Hometown Hero award is given to a person who gives back to the people around them and makes a positive impact on their community. The Wisconsin State Assembly has this program to recognize these individuals and publicly name them as Hometown Heros. Hometown Heros go above and beyond to help those around them. Anyone with these traits can be nominated for the award.
At the start of the game, Angella Sargent was welcomed on the field. She was introduced to the crowd and thanked for her service, awarded with a plaque, and given the opprotunity to throw the first pitch of the game. Angella was very grateful for the recognition and community support.
Angella is a troop leader for troops 8395 & 8470 in Sheboygan Falls. On top of donating much time and energy towards Girl Scouts, she also volunteers for many other important efforts.
Ashley Pantel, Angella's close friend, nominated Angella for this award. When nominating her friend, Ashley had written, "Angella is not only a Girl Scout troop leader but is the Falcon Families President (Sheboygan Falls PTO), is a substitute teacher at the school when they're short-handed, volunteers for recess duty when people call in, volunteers for all field trips. Not to mention she works full time, travels back to her home state on the East coast to serve (US Coast Guard) AND even runs an Etsy business. She is one of the most incredible women I have ever met. I don't know how she manages it all; she's amazing and very deserving of the hometown hero award."
This night was also Sheboygan A's Scouts Night! Girl Scouts who came wearing their uniform were able to get free admission to the game. There were many Girl Scouts in the crowd, including Angella's own troop and daughter, sporting their uniforms and Girl Scout pride. It was the perfect night for Angella to receive this award.
Girl Scout volunteers who invest in the future generation of girls change the world one meeting, one experience, one conversation at a time. We are so proud of Angella Sargent and are so glad she was publicly recognized for her hardwork.
Girl Scouts would not be possible without our amazing and wonderful volunteers!
