Senior Girl Scout Hannah set off on an unforgettable Girl Scout Destination through Dublin, London and Paris, where she experienced new cultures, explored historic landmarks, and made memories she’ll carry with her for years to come.
Throughout her journey, Hannah visited incredible places like Conwy Castle, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Anne Hathaway's Cottage, and the Pax Lodge Girl Scout World Centre. She also experienced an Irish dance program, explored London, and traveled by the Eurostar train to Paris where she enjoyed a tour of the city which included a visit to Disneyland Paris. From centuries-old castles and famous landmarks to experiencing the culture of each destination firsthand, every stop brought something new to her adventure.
While Buckingham Palace was one of the highlights of her trip, Hannah says visiting Pax Lodge was just as memorable. Learning about the history of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides there made the experience especially meaningful. Being able to connect her own Girl Scout Experience to a worldwide sisterhood was something that stood out to Hannah, and she highly recommends that other Girl Scouts visit Pax Lodge if they have the opportunity.
The trip also taught Hannah more than just history or culture. She learned how much planning, hard work, and independence go into traveling internationally and how different everyday life can be in another country.
Her advice to other Girl Scouts considering a Destination? Go for it! Work hard, save up, and take advantage of the opportunity. For Hannah, the experience was completely worth it, and she would do it all over again if she could.
She is especially grateful for the support from the council that helped make this once-in-a-lifetime adventure possible. For Hannah, this Destination was more than just a trip, it was a chance to learn, explore, grow, and experience the world through Girl Scouts.
