Caitlyn and Kara from Troop 8501 recently earned their Bronze Award for their project, “Learning about Homelessness in Manitowoc."
These girls spent time researching and interviewing local program providers to learn about the resources available to assist individuals experiencing homelessness in Manitowoc. They then prepared a slideshow presentation to help educate other Girl Scouts about homelessness and spread awareness about this important community issue, as well as ways people can help.
After conducting research and gaining a deeper understanding of homelessness in Manitowoc, the girls purchased items and created welcome baskets for individuals moving into apartments after living at the Haven or Hope House. An organization with the purpose of providing shelter and supportive services to individuals in need. Their goal was to help ease the transition into their new homes and provide encouragement as they began in this next chapter of life.
